From Director TSAF
There is so much to explore, discover and learn not only about the world we live in but also about ourselves - our capacity to stretch further than we think, courage, leadership qualities, concern for others and also about our weaknesses. The more we give ourselves exposure & broaden our horizon, the more we develop our personality & character which will be of benefit to us and the society and help build the National Character. Exposure to unfamiliar surroundings and physical hardships help individuals in facing real life situations, in a sporting manner. Having climbed the Everest and having led several other challenging expeditions, I can say with confidence and certainty that venturing into new areas of human endeavor educate us to develop positive qualities of leadership, courage, discipline, and motivate us to work towards the service of the community we live in. If we involve ourselves in such healthy outdoor pursuits we can revitalize the "can do" spirit of hope, which was seen in the Nation during Mahatma Gandhi's freedom struggle. A country is what people in that country make it to be. And people are what they do and what they see. We need young men & women with grit, guts & gumption in all our Institutions, Organizations & Government who can take a lead in action, so that we emerge as a strong Nation in the new millennium bereft of narrow mindedness, communalism, outdated customs, cast-ism & other social evils we have fallen prey to. The young breed must assess and carry on with the progressive and rich traditional values. Adventure programmes provide the opportunity of not only living, moving and learning out-of-doors, but also cover scientific insights, spiritual and emotional development, management development and environmental education through direct experience. This unique methodology is emerging as a better training instrument and also as a scientific barometer for evaluating people. Education can only begin when ignorance ends. At TSAF programmes, you will gain a great deal of excitement from the substance and variety of experimental learning activities, the stimulation of getting acquainted with your peers and other leaders from across the country, and your growing sense of identification with an important initiative for national renewal. So, go for it! The more energy and risk taking and commitment you put into the activities, the better you will prepare yourself and serve your family, your organization, your society and your nation happily. After all, I strongly feel, we are all working for our happiness and not only for earning money or material wealth.
Sincerely, |
