On top of the world, looking down on creation

This song must have a whole new meaning for mountaineers when they get to the top of a mountain peak. Many of them say, it is the silence of the mountains which draws people from urban areas towards those peaks. Others say that there is something more which also draws them towards the mountains.

Kajal Dey of Corporate Communication, Tata Steel juggles his schedule around all the time to make sure he manages to go on every mountaineering expedition possible. He was part of a team which climbed Mount Koteshwar in Garhwal Himalaya last summer. Inspired by their success, they went on to climb another nearby peak Mount Thelu.

When we asked Kajal what drives him to such heights, he said city life can get boring and tiresome. A trek in the mountains, the sense of being one with nature rejuvenates the spirit. The view from the top of the world, so to say, fulfills his sense of sight. His eyes long for that expanse of the world over and over again. The team's endeavour is only a small lesson on commitment. The conviction to achieve something new is the first step towards doing the unprecedented or changing the traditional.

The nature, the solitude and the peace as well as associated challenges brings out the best in human beings. Many a hesitant starter finishes the programme with flying colors, thus enhancing their self esteem & rejuvenate them to face the world with confidence. New friendships made in such adventure programmes as well as old acquaintances renewed are cherished for all time to come. In my opinion, an organization is what peoples in the organization make it to be. Such programmes make better human beings benefiting them & the organization.
