TSAF's contribution to the Society TSAF conducts programmes for the visually and hearing challenged, school children, and the underprivileged sections of the society. The foundation also conducts programmes to bring in the rural and urban youth together by organizing common competitions. A few of such activities briefly mentioned below speak more vividly about the impact such programmes have on the society in which we live. A heartwarming Experience . . . Mount Rudugaria expedition for the hearing challenged Six intrepid adventurer of the Silent Adventure Club of Jamshedpur, formed by the hearing challenged, took up the challenge of an Expedition to Mt. ASHA KIRAN - The Human Story TSAF conducted a tailor-made programme for some very special children, the students of Asha Kiran - a school which caters to the mentally challenged. The children were excited beyond imagination. Their sparkling eyes and uninhibited laughter reflected the joy of being part of the programme. "For me this camp was a confidence booster, which made me realize my strength and it has kindled a desire in me to participate again in such camps", said Shamita Nag, a participant. Everyone and even the children themselves thought that they were not capable of scaling the heights of mountain peaks and experience the thrill of water. But it was proved otherwise to them and their response clearly showed it. Ranu Das, another participant described the feeling very accurately. "Swimming in the water without any knowledge and climbing the impossible looking heights of the Dalma hills was an experience of a lifetime" she said. 23 children participated in the camp, which included water sports, trekking and an overnight stay in the tents. "Due to this camp we improved our self confidence. The overall experience is tremendous and adventurous", was how V Seetha Laxmi described her experience. Quite clearly the objective of the camp had been fulfilled. The aim of TSAF was to make the children develop new aspiration for themselves and their capabilities and develop self confidence.
