About Me


Hemant Gupta, completed his B. Tech in Metallurgical Engineering & Material Science from IIT Bombay in 2011 and joined Tata Steel as Manager Operations. His first tryst with adventure sports came during his graduation through a basic course in mountaineering. After joining Tata Steel he went on expeditions and soon switched to Tata Steel Adventure Foundation in 2013 to follow his heart. As Sr Manager in TSAF, Hemant is responsible for extending TSAF reach, introducing new courses and designing courses and development of Sport climbing centre of excellence. He is one of the pioneers of School of Outdoor Leadership to impart leadership training to corporates and institutions through nature and outdoors. He is also working on sustainable trails and camps and expeditions to raise awareness on environment conservation and preservation. His favorite activities are rock climbing, mountaineering & long distance running. He is among very few IIT graduates to climb Mt Everest.

  • » Mt Everest (29028ft) Expedition. Man of Steel Hemant Gupta successfully climbed Mt Everest on 27th May, 2017
  • » Mt Everest Expedition 2015. He was in camp -2 (21,350ft) when an earthquake of magnitude 7.9 struck the Nepal and Everest region. Huge avalanches were triggered by the quake, fortunately he escaped death. The expedition was cancelled after this tragedy in Nepal.

  • » Mission Gange - Month-long rafting expedition where a team of 40 individuals traversed 1500 km along the river Ganges. Partnered with ‘National Mission for Clean Ganges’ and collected 55,000+ kgs of waste from the river and conducted awareness sessions for 60,000+ students and locals, resulting in nationwide coverage in all leading television news, print and social media
